They’re often called ‘smile lines’-those parentheses-type wrinkles around our mouths. But when we look in the mirror, do they really make us smile? Chances are, they don’t.
There’s nothing better than a quick fix, don’t you think? Simple and easy is good, and that’s one thing I love about using injectables, like Radiesse. Within minutes, deep wrinkles around the nose and mouth can be smoothed, the creases and crevices being filled and eliminated. It can also add fullness and contouring to the cheek area.
So what exactly is Radiesse?
It’s a volumizing filler, made of tiny calcium-based microspheres suspended in a natural, water-based gel. It works in two ways:
Immediately: it fills the creases, folds and wrinkles, eliminating them and creating a smooth appearance
Gradually: Naturally stimulates your body’s own collagen regrowth so that your skin looks better over time.
One interesting thing to be noted when discussing Radiesse is that it actually promotes the production of new collagen in your skin, so that you will not only see an immediate improvement in the way you look, but it will continue to help you look your best over the months that follow.
How does it promote collagen production?
Loss of collagen, unfortunately, comes with age and causes wrinkling and sagging of the skin. The Radiesse injection is made of a calcium compound that is suspended in a natural gel. Over time, the gel is absorbed by your body, and collagen will begin to take the place of the gel. Radiesse is the only filler that actually stimulates your own collagen production in this way.
Results are long lasting-many patients see results for up to 9-12 months.
