In Smoothie Recipe

Detox is very important to your overall health. While your body has normally occurring detoxification processes, the more you support these processes, the better your body is able to flush out toxins and unwanted cells.

One of the best ways you can help your body eliminate toxins, and even fat, is by kick starting your metabolism and your liver first thing in the morning.

My favorite go-to breakfast option is my detox smoothie. Not only does it taste good, but it is rich in nutrients that help to detoxify the body, removing harmful toxins from your bloodstream, so that your systems can function more optimally. It’s also loaded with fiber and protein, so it keeps me full throughout the day, too! Plus, because it’s so light, it helps me stay energized throughout the day.

Dr. Shel’s Detox Smoothie


  • 1/2 banana
  • 1 handful spinach
  • 1 Granny Smith apple
  • 1/2 cucumber
  • Juice from 1/2 lemon
  • 2 celery stalks
  • 1 T hemp or chia seeds
  • 1 heaping scoop of Advanced Plant Protein Powder
  • Unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • Ice

Blend all ingredients in a high-powered blender until smooth and creamy. Enjoy!

I will also add that it is vital for your Detox Smoothie ingredients to always be organic. Why? Because if you’re smoothie ingredients are inorganic, then they have most likely been treated with some sort of pesticide, therefore causing you to consume this toxin, further adding to your body’s toxic load. When you use only organic produce and ingredients, you are lowering the amount of toxins your body is exposed to.

My Detox Smoothie is one that can easily be enjoyed daily. Feel free to mix up the ingredients to change it up day by day. A few other common detoxifying ingredients to add are organic berries, avocado, coconut water, mint and coconut oil. Have fun with it; that’s the beauty of smoothies!
