Happy November!
The holidays are in full swing are we are definitely in the holiday spirit!
Thanksgiving reminds us all to be grateful for what’s important in our lives, including all of the people, and opportunities we have been given.
I want to take a moment to thank my family including my amazing husband and best friend Ayeez, and my two angels Zoe and Zade…you have blessed my life in more ways than I can express and I cherish the moments I spend with you all.
I want to thank my team for their dedication to exceptional patient care and commitment to sharing the message of health and wellness. They make everything flow seamlessly and makes every day a joy to be at work. And I undoubtedly want to think my patients and the community for allowing me to do what I love and help others to live healthier and happier lives! Without you, none of this would be possible and I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to be your doctor.
I am also grateful for experiences. It has been one year since my husband, Ayeez, was diagnosed with ALS. This past year has been a journey of indescribable ups and downs, but through this all, my family has experienced an unimaginable amount of love and support. We have learned not to take any moments for granted. We have learned to love deeper, to care for each other, to support each other, to let people help us, and to adapt to changes. Last of all, we learned the true meaning of family and friends loving unconditionally and fighting for something that you believe in!
The spirit of Thanksgiving is all about showing gratitude. Having a thankful attitude in your daily life is actually good for the body, mind, and soul. Scientists have even noted that gratitude is associated with improved health, including a reduction in stress hormones, read more here. I would encourage everyone to join me in striving for an attitude of gratitude that extends beyond the holidays and into our everyday lives!
Wishing you and your loved ones a Joyous Thanksgiving,
Dr. Shel
