Do you suffer from seasonal allergies? Sniffling, sneezing, watery eyes, and congestion can make life miserable. If you live in the Houston area where we are located you will likely experience at least some degree of seasonal allergies.
Seasonal-type allergies bloom when the plants do, in spring to early autumn. During breezy days, tiny pollen particles drift through the air and straight up your nose. Mold allergies are also seasonal. Mold, mildew, and yeast are all fungi, which reproduce with tiny, powdery spores that are airborne and s generally peak in warm, humid weather.
Allergies are a reaction that occurs when your immune system overreacts to a non-threatening substance. So when the body inhales pollen, the immune system not only recognizes it as “not-self,” but goes overboard in attacking it, resulting in the sneezing, runny noses, watery eyes, etc. After prolonged exposure, you can even get a fever (hence the name “hay fever”).
Traditionally the only allergy treatment offered to patient in America has been immunotherapy injections (allergy shots). You need to know that there are other, easier, and arguably more effective treatments available.
Sub-lingual Immunotherapy (Allergy Drops)
Immunotherapy is the process of gradually introducing the body to small amounts of the allergens that cause your body to react. Small doses of the things that you are allergic to are put into your body until you build up immunity to it.
Most people in America associate immunotherapy only with injections (typically given weekly). However, there is an alternative that has been used around the world for more than 60 years called Sub-lingual Immunotherapy (SLIT), or Allergy Drops.
Allergy drops are a type of immunotherapy in a liquid form. The antigens are compounded individually for each patient based on the things that you are allergic to. Allergy drops are a highly effective, safe, and convenient treatment conveniently taken at home.
The antigens used in allergy drops are the same physician prescribed antigens used in allergy shots. They are prepared the same way as allergy shots but the drops are administered under the tongue instead of a syringe injecting the antigen into the tissue.
They are safe and effective for all ages and our patients often notice immediate improvement. Most patients receiving allergy drops need only a few clinic visits the first year, and once every 6-12 months thereafter until visits are no longer needed which translates to lower cost and fewer office visits.
After suffering for years with my allergies I finally decided to do something about it. I never wanted to go through getting shots for my allergies, so when I saw Dr. Shel on TV one day saying that she can treat allergies with drops, I knew I had to go see her. Everyone at Dr. Shel’s was so great and the results I’ve had so far are amazing and I recommend Dr. Shel to everyone! Thank you Dr. Shel!!! ~ Teri S.
Vitamin C IV Therapy for Allergies
Vitamin C is the most critical supplement for allergies. Vitamin C is the primary antioxidant in the lungs, and is a powerful antihistamine that does not cause side-effects. Vitamin C prevents the formation of histamine, as opposed to common antihistamine medications that work by interfering with the binding of histamine after it is already produced. Vitamin C also normalizes our immune responses, helping them work together instead of antagonistically.
Since the stomach has a threshold of how much it can absorb, it may not be possible to get enough of the vitamin C into your bloodstream without by passing the digestive system. IV vitamin therapy bypasses the digestive system and delivers 100% of the vitamins into the bloodstream, making it the most effective means of delivering high doses of vitamin C for allergy relief.
Vitamin IV therapy may help treat and prevent a wide variety of other conditions safely and effectively without the use of pharmaceutical drugs. Some of the common conditions that IV Therapy may help your to prevent and recover from are:
- Cold & Flu
